Skirting boards – a practical and attractive interior finish

Details matter. When it comes to interior finishing, they are often overlooked in the day-to-day use of a room. However, without them, a flat would look bare and as if it were unfinished. We are, of course, talking about skirting boards. It is thanks to them that you can put the proverbial finishing touch on your interior design. Find out exactly what you need to know about this element and how to match it to the room’s décor.

Why use skirting boards?

Skirting boards have many advantages that allow you not only to complete the interior design but also to cleverly conceal what shouldn’t be visible, such as the joints between the floor and the wall. Here are their most important advantages:

• they help to conceal expansion gaps where the wall meets the floor;
• certain models allow you to hide cables run along the walls;
• they protect the lower sections of walls from dirt;
• they reduce the risk of damage to the lower part of the wall caused by moving furniture or cleaning;
• they are the perfect complement to other interior finishing elements;
• they allow you to emphasise a specific style and colour scheme.

The panels are available in various shapes, which you can mix and match as you like to create your own patterns and compositions. As well as shapes, you can also have fun combining colours. You can choose from 7 colours and 5 shapes – check out the full range here.

What colour wall should you choose for your bedroom?

Do you prefer a light colour scheme or bold accents in your bedroom? In both cases, you can choose the right colour for your upholstered panels. If you like darker colours in your bedroom, go for panels in a trendy bottle green. You can further emphasise this by choosing light-coloured accessories; we’ve opted for grey and white. And to create a balance of colours in the interior, we’ve also included black and another shade of green. Depending on the level of contrast and brightness you wish to achieve, you can adjust the colour proportions and shades.

Do you prefer a lighter colour scheme in the bedroom? How about pairing a mustard-coloured wall with navy blue textiles? This combination works beautifully with white furniture and grey accessories.

An upholstered wall in a child’s bedroom

A wide selection of colours and shapes allows you to tailor the product to every member of the household, including the youngest. Pink will add a touch of delicacy to the room. You can easily combine it with subtle shades of grey, blue and yellow, creating a welcoming space for play, learning and relaxation.

Navy blue upholstered panels are a great idea for a teenager’s room. They lend a touch of sophistication and blend well with other colours. In this room, we’ve opted for white furniture with a light oak finish, along with yellow and grey accessories. Navy blue isn’t just a colour for a child’s room.  When designing other rooms, you can combine it with dark green, pink or yellow.
